# Quickstart

> Choose your AI client and connect it to Surfer.

Each guide takes you from adding Surfer to your client to running your first request.

## Before you start

You need your own Surfer account on a [plan that includes MCP](/mcp/credits-and-limits#plans-that-include-mcp).

You also need an account for your chosen client. Its setup guide lists any client-specific plan or administrator requirements.

## Choose your client

Open the guide for the app you use. ChatGPT web and desktop have different setup steps.
