# Capabilities

> See what your assistant can do with Surfer MCP.

Your assistant discovers the available tools and their inputs when it connects to Surfer. Ask for the outcome you want; the tool descriptions guide the assistant through the calls.

## Workspaces and brand

* Find your workspaces, create and activate a workspace, and manage its brand knowledge.
* Read recommendations for pages to optimize and topics to write about, then open Content Editors for the pages you choose.

## Content Editors

* Create an editor from keywords or import an existing page.
* Read and update its content, check content scores, and get links to open or share the editor.
* Read and regenerate a SERP-based outline.

## Guidelines

* Read SEO terms, topics, structure targets, and the competitors behind them.
* Adjust the guidelines and check how the draft uses recommended terms.
* Read AI Search scores and the supporting facts and sources.

## Writing and optimizing

* Generate an AI Article, with an optional pause to review its outline.
* Apply Auto-Optimize to improve an existing draft.

Creation and generation can spend credits. See [Credits and limits](/mcp/credits-and-limits) before starting a batch.

## Templates and voices

* Create, inspect, update, and delete reusable content templates and custom voices.
* Set workspace defaults and choose which template or voice an editor uses.

## AI Tracker

* Read brand visibility in AI answers, compare brands, and follow trends and tracked prompts.
* See which sources AI answers cite and whether the cited pages mention your brand.
* Compare competitor source coverage and the overlap with your brand.

AI Tracker tools read existing projects and reports. Manage projects and prompts in the Surfer app.

## Run a workflow
